Singapore company formation

I'm thinking about expanding my online business internationally and heard that registering a company in Singapore could be a good move for tax reasons and credibility. But what's the real deal? Do you actually need to live there or have a local director? Is it worth the hassle for a small setup?

Yeah, a lot of people go for Singapore Pte Ltd these days, even if they're not based there. You do need at least one resident director (can be hired through services), and a local secretary is mandatory too, but the process is pretty streamlined online through ACRA. Minimum capital is just SGD 1, and the corporate tax is attractive at 17% with exemptions for startups. No capital gains tax either, which helps. I checked out some experiences and found this detailed write-up useful for understanding the steps and costs: https://taxus.tech/services/singapore-company-formation/ Seems straightforward if you use a reliable provider, but yeah, ongoing compliance costs add up a bit. Worth it if you're targeting Asia or want that "Singapore registered" vibe for clients.
